2020 was definitely a year to forget. Whether 2021 will be any better will depend on the speed and effectiveness of Covid vaccinations, and the practical consequences of leaving the EU.
Given a choice, I think I'd rather skip 2021 too, and go straight to 2022.

The BBC had a survey of the papers with contributions from a reporter who spent a lot of time in Germany.
