Fake news

Interesting article. I don't know whether his concerns about Russia's involvement are justified but it's certainly true that...
...there is universal doubt. No one seems to know that they know anything.

This is an epistemological crisis. A moment in history when the very nature of knowledge is in doubt because the means by which it is acquired have been undermined.
But in a world in which established purveyors of news and information are smeared as "false news" collaborators, what would the reaction of anti-European Britons if it was found that the Leave campaign was infiltrated by Russia?

Or of an indictment of Trump's administration or election as having been compromised by the Kremlin?

Would the mob, reinforced by propaganda it is lapping up on social media, cry "false news" and label the authorities behind such investigations "enemies of the people"?

It would appear we are under attack from the IRA :con
Concern about Russian influence in British politics has intensified as it emerged that more than 400 fake Twitter accounts believed to be run from St Petersburg published posts about Brexit.

Researchers at the University of Edinburgh identified 419 accounts operating from the Russian Internet Research Agency (IRA) attempting to influence UK politics out of 2,752 accounts suspended by Twitter in the US.
