Did the World end for you.......?

Post by Dubious Dick »

Or do we have to wait for midnight before we can be sure?

Will the lack of an apocalyptic event today make any new age bs peddlars or end of times loons question there beliefs in such nonsense? Sadly I somehow doubt it. Now on edge of seat awaiting a plethora of 'explanations' and re-calibrations.

Have met a few people who have bought into all the Mayan calendar baloney, and am in process of emailing some wishing them well for 2013 - OH NO! Just realised next year ends in the unlucky number 13.... what could it mean?

OOOOPPPS. There goes me jumping the gun again!

This just in and felt compelled to pass it on:

PRESS RELEASE ISSUED BY THE COALITION OF THE NEW AGE
DATELINE: 21 December 2012

To all those who mock and snigger at our previous predictions of the impending end of the World, we wish to announce that due to errors caused by previously undetected shifts in the time/space continuum, combined with a re-calculation of the quantum energy field, along with the discovery of a piece of fossilized pretzel from the Mayan era bearing new information we are delighted to announce that we have re-calculated.

The end of the World will still happen. Have no fear. As of today, we can confidently predict that the correct date will be 21/12/2013.

We are sure that no one can have failed to notice that next year ends in the digits 13, which have long been known to foretell doom and disaster.

Doubt us at your peril. For we are the enlightened ones. May your crystal balls be with you.

Various idiotic excuses that have actually been used by previous armageddonists:

1. The world did end. This isn't the real world anymore.

2. My prediction stopped my prediction from happening. So it is all thanks to me that you are still here.

3. The aliens told me a white lie.

4. I never said those things that I said.

An article about how such groups cope with the world failing to end, on the BBC website: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-20712815

Apparently it was supposed to be at 11.11am GMT so we appear to have survived another cataclysm - unless I'm the only one left... :-o

I watched a Beeb report from Stonehenge last night, after the world was meant to end. They spoke to a bearded chap in a white frock and beads, he claimed to be a Druid. "Not the end of the world" he said. "It's the start of a new era, we need new thinking for this new era".
A druid. 'New' thinking? I think he was taking the piss.

I think that what he meant was: "we need to return to some very old thinking..."
