An interesting contrast. It seems that strongly religious people may be less rational in the USA than in the Vatican. Perhaps because in the US there is no agreed body of dogma which believers are supposed to sign up for?

Maybe but the first thing I'd check is if the televangelists had encouraged supporters to think of the mission when writing their wills.
