Anyone know what's going on there? :sh
What side are the White Helmets on - the good side or the bad side?
Syria
Re: Syria
It's all very confusing isn't it. Some nasty looking images but no definitive attribution. Assad is certainly nasty enough to do that and ISIS are certainly nasty enough to gas their own people to blame Assad to provoke a response.
The US and our own government have previous form on being eager to start a war based on over interpreted evidence so it's difficult to argue that they wouldn't retaliate if they didn't have decent evidence beyond what we're seeing.
Then there's the fact that the Syrians are still able to use an airfield 24 hours after being targeted by 59 tomahawk cruise missiles. Are those things really worth the money? Or was it all for show to distract from and counter the allegations of Putin's influence in the Whitehouse.
That sort of thing sounds like tin foil hat material but I really don't know what to think.

Agree with Matt. Without knowing the quality of the evidence they had which pointed towards the Assad lot as the culprits, it's difficult to know what's best.
Assuming it was Assad's lot (probably was) then taken in isolation, the attack was thoroughly merited.
OTOH, nothing is ever in isolation, and probably less so in Syria than anywhere else. What do we want to outcome to be? If Assad goes, who will replace him? Until we have some clear answers to such questions (and a sensible path towards achieving them) Western intervention is just chucking petrol on the fire.
