Samsung smart TVs

Post by chaggle »

Apparently these TVs (we have one ) have a camera and are recording everything we say and do and transmitting it all back to third parties.

So says one of my dodgy facebook friends.

Any truth in this?

Samsung's global privacy policy (Smart TVs) includes these words...
Please be aware that if your spoken words include personal or other sensitive information, that information will be among the data captured and transmitted to a third party through your use of Voice Recognition.
ETA I can't find a camera on ours. However the policy says...
Your SmartTV is equipped with a camera that enables certain advanced features, including the ability to control and interact with your TV with gestures and to use facial recognition technology to authenticate your Samsung Account on your TV. The camera can be covered and disabled at any time, but be aware that these advanced services will not be available if the camera is disabled.
Don't blame me - I voted remain :con

We have one too - though not one of the great big ones. I'm sure this from The Fail will reassure you.
