Re: Labour leadership

They somehow omitted to mention that new LibDem leader Tim Farron also signed the pro homeopathy motion . Quite an 'oversight'... Sorry it's OT, but the New LD leader has said, to “understand Christianity is to understand that we are all sinners”. So that's that, then. God help them - they'll need ...

Applied Kinesiology.

It is an old "Bullshit Detectives" video, but worth a look. I was actually trying to find the one where a bloke claimed that his pain was eased by what turned out to be a Werther's toffee, but I couldn't find it. Anyway...... PpiNAjXBez4 (Are those subtitles Finnish, Estonian or what??)

Re: Gun culture

I'm having quite an entertaining discussion on FB with an American republican (distant relative as it happens) who has posted this as 'all the relevant facts about guns and violence'. http://www.gunfacts.info/gun-control-myths/guns-in-other-countries/#.Vg_QCM1wlVU.facebook Any comments? Why do none...

When Pseudoscience Kills.

"Lavigne died in hospital after she and eight others in a personal-development seminar called Dying in Consciousness were covered with mud, wrapped in plastic, put under blankets and immobilized with their heads in cardboard boxes for about nine hours, under instructions to hyperventilate. &qu...

Re: Which weighs more...

Well, I always thought that as muscle is denser than fat, for a given volume, muscle would be heavier than fat. Summary: Muscle density is 1.06 g/ml and fat density is (about) 0.9 g/ml. Thus, one liter of muscle would weight 1.06 kg and one liter of fat would weight 0.9 kg. In other words, muscle is...

Skin-deep truths about beauty.

David Colquhoun refers to “pseudoscientific technobabble”. And concluding, he .... thinks beauty firms, like drug companies, should be made to test their products in double-blind, randomised controlled trials, using control groups issued with placebos. If skin-care companies want to use the language...
